Lovable Chrome extension download, step by step

Chrome has its own quirks — profiles, sync, and managed-device policies — and they cause most of the install questions we receive. This page sticks to Chrome and its close relatives.

Chrome requirements

A recent version of desktop Chrome; update first if you have not in a while.
Permission to enable developer mode — work and school laptops sometimes block it.
A folder you will keep, because Chrome loads this extension from disk each time it starts.

The Chrome install steps

1Download the computer build from our homepage and unzip it.
2Open chrome://extensions in the address bar.
3Turn on Developer mode using the switch in the top right.
4Click "Load unpacked" and select the unzipped folder.
5Pin the extension from the puzzle-piece menu, open it and paste your license key.

Chrome profiles and sync

Extensions loaded this way belong to the profile you installed them in and are not carried across by Chrome sync. If you use separate work and personal profiles, install in the one you actually build in.

Signing into Chrome on another computer will not bring the extension with it — you install it there too, within your key's device limit.

When Chrome blocks the install

Symptom	What it means	What to do
Developer mode switch is greyed out	The device is managed by an organisation	Use a personal computer, or ask your administrator
Extension is removed at every restart	A policy is cleaning up unpacked extensions	Same as above; a managed profile cannot keep it
"Manifest file is missing or unreadable"	The wrong folder level was selected	Pick the folder that directly contains manifest.json

Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi

All of them use the same engine and the same file. The only difference is the address of the extensions page — edge://extensions, brave://extensions and so on. Every other step is identical.
